Deputation on Declaration of Climate Emergency

Monday Night, Peterborough Council Meeting, “climate change” was on the agenda; with a massive assist from Gene Balfour (who wrote this original deputation template below) and crew to fill the seats, we called for a reversal of the “Declaration of Climate Change Emergency.”

Our Objection

We the People are here to object to this committee’s approval of report for corporate sector, greenhouse gas emissions data and the declaration of climate emergency, which proceeded it.

Rational

1. We find that the declaration and this report are based on the unsubstantiated premise, that greenhouse gas emissions, specifically, CO2 (the gas we exhale and plants absorb) and a gas produced by affordable heat and energy sources is dangerous.

2.  The report fails to justify, with scientific evidence, the public expenditures for collecting corporate sector, greenhouse gas emissions data. I note all these reports  state there is no budgetary or financial implications associated with them but the city staff named on these reports make the city sunshine list. Their salary is paid for by the people of Peterborough, and the collection of data is not free.

The purpose of this delegation:

Is to  satisfy to the people of Peterborough that this council possesses, the scientific knowledge and understanding to competently make decisions on behalf of all Peterborough regarding the supposed climate crisis.

This is a question of public confidence in our elected representatives.

Preamble for QUESTION #1

If you look outside the Federation of Canadian municipalities, ICLEI, the UN and intergovernmental panel on climate change IPCC, you will find dozens of credible scientific organizations

This August, the climate intelligence group, released a declaration signed by 1603 scientists, stating that there is no climate emergency.

There are many intelligent people in Peterborough and the internet provides a vast resource of human knowledge. Countless peer reviewed studies, challenge the premise of a climate change crisis, and is alleged threats.

One study, found that the optimal level of atmospheric CO2 for plant growth ranges from 600 to 1500 ppm. These levels represent the best industry practised for greenhouse growers. They are much higher than outdoor CO2 levels of approximately 415 ppm.

Other studies find that increased atmospheric CO2 levels lead to increased moister in the  forest soils.

Proponents of the climate crisis theory, often attribute man-made CO2 emissions to be the cause of environmental threats such as forest fires.

Will the mayor or any member of this council, answer the following question with citations from published scientific papers, and provide the data collected by the researchers.

If the rising of atmospheric CO2 levels above the current level of 415 ppm are alleged to cause forest fires, please describe the mechanism of action at the molecular level, and explain why greenhouses do not burst into flames when CO2 exceed 600 ppm ?

Secondly, Antonio, Guterres, secretary general of the UN, recently made a public announcement “we have entered the era of global boiling “.

Question #2

If this is true, why doesn’t a pot of water begin to boil inside a greenhouse when CO2 levels of reach 1500 ppm?

Why should anyone trust the United Nations, the IPCC, or any other globalist body, when they make such outrageous statements, like this “global boiling” claim?

Thirdly,

Energy security means reliable and affordable energy. Green energy sources cannot replace the energy supplied from fossil fuels to meet our energy needs.

From a political standpoint, affordable and reliable energy affects 100% your constituents while some unknown and smaller portions of the population, believe the climate crisis claims and international organizations like 350.org organize local protests promoted by Peterborough Examiner, this does not reflect a natural grass roots movement or negate our local need for energy security.

QUESTION #3

Will Council commit to prioritize our Energy Security above all else whenever a Climate Change proposal is presented to it?

PROPOSALS to Council

With the above in mind, we are proposing that this council step into its true authority over the city corporation, and..

1. Revoke of the declaration of climate emergency for Peterborough.

2. Spend no additional public time, money or resources on any future submissions to this counsel involving unsubstantiated climate change threats like those implied in this report.

3. demand the highest possible standards of proof when the climate change topics arise?  In other words,  reject climate change as a magic phrase that must automatically command serious attention and consideration

4. Commit to prioritizing our energy security above all else whenever climate change proposals are presented

5. Provide the councils answers to the three questions brought forward by this delegation,  no later than October 16th.
